Francis H Bateman
PhD. Student, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Eshelman School of Pharmacy, Division of Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill
In my previous position as a post baccalaureate fellow at the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute, my focus was on exploring and developing innovative approaches to treat cancer. My experience in analytical chemistry, cell biology, and pharmacology has allowed me to contribute to clinical trials, pre-clinical animal studies, and cell based research projects all with the goal of developing novel therapeutics for patients. My research passion lies in developing novel therapeutics, enhancing the efficacy of current treatments, and exploring the potential of an ex vivo body-on-a-chip platform to inform early stage development, particularly with PK/PD studies that may be more accurate than animal models.
My ultimate goal is to make valuable contributions to the advancement of cancer treatment and the optimization of drug development through rigorous work in the pharmaceutical industry. My background in chemical and biomedical research has taught me to approach problems with a critical and analytical mindset. In combination with my strong motivation and dedication, my experience in a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary environment has made me eager to work with like-minded individuals and experts in the field to continue making strides in cancer and pharmacology research.
